Gemini II – 1965 – Jesse Jones Hall for the Performing Arts – Houston (TX)
Gemini II was commissioned by the Jesse Jones Foundation in 1965. It has been hanging in Downtown Houston’s Jones Hall for the past 47 years.
Two virtually identical forms made of thousands of hexagonal aluminum rods held together and suspended in space by gold-plated cables.
Dimensions of individual elements in the work relates both to human scale and to the established dimension of this grand space.
Due to this integral interplay of reflectivity and perceived translucence, Gemini II appears to dissolve into the light.
